We flew into Denver today and visited a great elementary school there with Secretary Sebelius
and the two senators and the governor. Healthy food, community garden, all the kids participating,
lots of physical activity, way too much for me - they actually made me dance and hopefully I won't have to do that the
rest of the bus trip. I tried not to fall over and hurt any of the kids but it actually
was a really fun school to see. The school also sends children who are hungry home with
backpacks full of food on Friday afternoons so they don't worry about them not eating
and being hungry over the weekend when they return back to school. We drove a couple of
hours to Limon, Colorado where the entire town turned out. About 400 people there. Fantastic
school - K-12, healthcare clinics, everybody helping out, great band, great sports' programs,
community members, and board members. It's Constitution Day and got quizzed on the constitution
by a number of really smart 5th graders. It was fantastic to see the entire community
rallying behind the school. We're now in Colby, Kansas stopping for a little bit and then
we have a 6 or 7 hour trip tonight before we get some rest. It's great to be back on
the bus and looking forward to a big day tomorrow. Tomorrow morning we're going to Topeka, KS
which is obviously a really, really important place historically - the birthplace of Brown
vs. Board. Great day today - looking forward to hopefully sleeping a little bit on the
bus later tonight and looking forward to a big day tomorrow.
