When I take a photograph, I try to do three things:
Connect, understand and share.
Visiting India and Rwanda with Plan Canaday gave me an opportunity to do
these things in a deeply meaningful way.
I had a chance to try to understand people
a world away from me.
Find connections between their lives and my own,
and share their stories with people at home in Canada.
Whether in a city or village,
Rwanda or India, I could see commonalities between all these women,
and my self
and my mother
and my friends
and all women.
My hope is that audiences all over Canada can see themselves in these
photos.
I believe that when we can recognize ourselves in another,
we begin to relate.
And when we relate, our compassion grows
and are hope expands,
leading to a greater vision of what is possible
both for ourselves and for others.
By choosing to change your perspective in even the smallest way,
you can make an impact that last for generations.
When we change, the world changes. Be a part of the change.
