Hi everyone, let's take a look at the new and improved version of TheHub. TheHub is
the place where you can see all academic records for an advisee, sign contracts and pass forms
for your advisees, view course rosters and view and write course evaluations. This
video will provide a general overview of the interface and the course evaluation tab.
To get there, go to thehub.hampshire.edu and log in. Click faculty menu and then Academic
Records/Evaluations.
Here we see the new Hub page with three tabs at the top. The home tab, which is where you
will first land when you login, contains a list of your current and upcoming classes.
We will be adding features to this tab this fall, such as to-do lists, notifications and
other information, so stay tuned on updates to the Home tab.
The Advisees tab is where you look to view an advisee's academic records, sign contracts,
pass forms and other paperwork required for the academic program. We will be covering
the advisees tab in a separate video.
The Courses tab is where you view course rosters/waitlists as well as view and write course evaluations
for students.
Let's click over to the Courses tab.
The first thing you see on this screen is a list of your current and future courses.
To filter or adjust which courses are being displayed, use these check boxes on the left.
For example if I want to see last semester's courses, I need to click the Complete box
and they will appear.
Clicking the name of a course takes you to a class roster.
You see summary and enrollment information of the class on the left-hand side, and on
the right you see a list of students with their pictures, names and start terms. For
the sake of privacy for this video we have fake names, but you will see your actual student
names.
This column of icons shows their divisional status or, if they're not a Hampshire student,
their home campus (S for Smith, U for Umass, etc). Their advisor is listed here. Next to
the students name and the advisor's name is an email link, so click this to send an individual
email to this individual.
At the bottom of this screen you will see the wait list for the class organized in rank
order, so the first person listed will get the first available spot if one becomes available.
If a student has a border around their photo it means they have requested privacy for their
academic records, and when you go to write an evaluation for that student you will see
the specifics of this request.
To write or view evaluations for the students in this course I can click the Evaluations
link on the left. I also could have clicked the Evaluations link back on the main list
of courses.
Here again we see a list of students in the class and their divisional status. There are
columns for each type of evaluation. You can click the links for each one, which adjust
to say "Write" or "View" depending on if they have been finalized yet.
There are various icons appearing that give you more information about the status of these
evaluations.
A Clock means the evaluation is pending and hasn't been finalized.
A green check means the evaluation has been finalized and that course was successfully
completed. A green check with a little P means the evaluation
has been finalized AND proof-read. N/A means this evaluation was not received,
and it may or may not be required for the given student depending on their enrollment
status, etc. A red exclamation point in the Mid-term evaluation
column means concerns were registered with advising at that time.
A red X icon means the student received no evaluation for the course.
A red triangle icon means the student has an incomplete in the course.
A "W" means that the student withdrew from the course after the end of the add/drop period.
Clicking into one of these evaluations take you to the evaluation form or the finalized
evaluation.
You can see detailed information about the student and class on the left, and you can
click this link to return to the course evaluations screen.
If you have questions or need help with using the theHub, for example if you're not sure
where to find a particular form, please email thehub@hampshire.edu or call extension 5718.
We also ask that you bear in mind that theHub is an ever-evolving work in progress and we
will be adding new features and updates over the course of the year.
Thanks and have a great semester.
