Jason: They helped me a lot working through with my resume.
Jason: I learned to customize each resume for each position,
just some better time management.
Jason: Definitely a thorough review of my resume.
Jason: I was using USAjobs. If anyone has ever worked with USAjobs, it is a daunting process.
Jason: I went to two workshops for USAjobs with you [Leticia] - it's some kind of some insider knowledge
about how to get through USAjobs, and sure enough, I produced
a fifteen page resume.
Jason: I think I got one phone interview,
another call back...so I was kind of on the right track and it was very rewarding to get the call.
Leticia: Describe how your employment specialist was helpful in achieving your employment goals.
Jason: You [Leticia] were always available.
Jason: I remember there was one instance where
I got a call back from a laboratory in Montana,
and they asked me if I could come down, and
I didn't think I could afford the gas. My next step was to come down here and talk to...
I think it was Vincent. I said "What do I do when it comes to my unemployment?",
to say I can't go to this interview, he kind of looked at me and says
"Aren't you in the dislocated worker program?" "Well, yeah."
"Well, they'll buy your gas. Go, go, get going."
Jason: I think that was a turning point for me; I realized that I couldn't passively put my
resume out there.
Jason: There was no passive about what I was doing after some of those turning points.
Jason: I'm going to put myself in front
of the places that I feel I'm qualified for.
Jason: Your help, your advice, gave me the confidence to go after it, so I really appreciate that. [Music Outro Begins]
