Hi it's Camille with POSGuys.com. Today we're taking a look at Mobilogics iScan which is
the scanner on the top of this iPad here.
This is a barcode scanner for iPad and your iPhone.
There is also a similar barcode scanner which is a sled
by Mobilogics and it's for the iPod touch. They are both laser barcode scanners.
The iScan is a laser scanner so you can see that red
red bar
and it has about a range that gets within a couple inches to like an inch
and a very fair scan rate so if you wanted to scan really fast you could
and about a ten inch range so you can get about 10 inches away before it stops.
In addition to the onscreen buttons there is a button on the scanner itself right there.
So that will turn on your scanner for you and you can scan barcodes that way.
Mobilogic puts out an app for free with the iScan but it's mostly just a demo app to show
you that it can scan barcodes. So you just hit the scan button and scan your barcode
and then the number would show up in the field.
So the iScan is not a keyboard wedge device. You'll need to use an app to get any of the
data from it to your application.
In this case we're using iCody which is an application we downloaded from the Apple market
and
this is kind of like a browser type environment where you can scan into the fields on the
browser.
So for this Google doc
I can scan and it goes into the field for me. Just like that.
So if you had an application for your business you could just have it enter data into a field
for your application.
Over here it tracks your barcodes that you scanned and the times and locations if you
let it find the location and you have settings as well where you can change to use the built
in camera or use the iScan for speed. You can change the delimiters of the
data entry so if you want to hit enter afterwards or hit tab afterwards or add a comma or a
period
you can do that.
and then various settings you can change down below.
Just a quick rundown of the iPDT380. To get your iPod inside you would just push the grey
buttons up here
and here
to open up the sled.
You can see that it bends so you can fit your iPod touch in there
and you snap it shut
Your scanning is aligned with your iPod touch so it should be a little bit easier
and there are buttons on the sides. You have a button there
that you push to scan
and also a button on the other side where you would push to scan.
So to conclude,
while these are barcodes scanners it would be wise to remember that you can't just pull
them out of the box and start scanning barcodes right away with your iPhone, iPad or iPod
touch.
You will need an application to read that the barcode scanner is there and to start
sending the data. We recommend right now the iCody app because it will let you scan into
a browser. So if you need to scan into a browser or web application iCody will probably work
for you.
They both have a 1 year warranty
and if you'd like more information or would like to buy either the iPDT380
