hello everyone welcome to galaxy note 2 tips and tricks episode thirteen and
today is the second segment of how to shoot better video with the samsung
galaxy note 2
if you've missed the first segment please go to my channel and check out
episode twelve
for those of you who've already seen the first segment let's get started
so let's go to the video camera by doing a tap and rotate
and as you can see
i have video mode enabled and i have grid lines enabled
and if you've ever seen a video of mine where I discuss taking photos or video
you'll always see that i have grid lines enabled first let me show you
where you can enable grid lines
just go to the menu
settings and then
you should see grid lines there
so why do i have grid lines enable?
it is for something called the rule of thirds in photography and videography
but whenever you look at a picture or a video
your eyes don't normally fall on the center they scan these
four points
or these lines intersect
so whenever you see like a TV show
and somebody's talking to another person you tend to see a person's face here and
then you tend to see another person's face here or here
and it is not just one people are talking say a person is walking your
zoom very far out
and a person's walking and they're walking along the path and usually
they'll probably walk along and then
the'll intersect at these points
so shooting with these four points in mind will always help you communicate to
the viewer
exactly what you're trying to communicate
so definitely applied the rule of thirds when you're shooting video
and the next tip is
apply effects to your video
now it is kinda like instagram for videos
and the first two filters here cold vintage
and especially warm vintage
are really beautiful filters
so give those a try
the ones are further down i think may be used for some abstract
videos
but warm vintage and cold vintage
it could definitely be used
in more common settings
so the next tip i have for guys is always keep a ground level
so imagine this is the ground
and when you're walking with this camera perpendicular to the ground
and the common movements are to zoom in you wanna zoom in to
whatever you're shooting in front of the lense
you could tilt
you could tilt this way or you could tilt sideways
but never tilt
never tilt this way
because
you're not keeping the ground level
another thing is say that you're shooting tilted down
never tilt
this way or that way because you're not keeping the ground level
and when you don't keep the ground level
your picture starts looking abstract
and it is not really
not really pleasing to see and then common mistake is when people are shooting
photos they kinda
try to do some abstract shots and shoot it in an angle
and it might look ok when you're shooting it
but unless you're planning on playing the video
on a monitor that's slanted this way
it's probably not gonna look great
okay moving on
remember we discussed this yesterday Anti Shake
the feature Anti Shake here is might be refer to as image
stabilization
only use that for still shots
when you're shooting something and you're not moving
or
you could do it for very slow-moving shots whether it be
panning, tilting or zooming as long as you're moving maybe about
a half inch a second
you could still take advantage of the awesome Anti Shake
but if you're
panning much more quickly than that
definitely turn it off
the last tip i have for guys is
don't pinch zoom while you're shooting a video
for example i'm going to start recording
and as you could see i can
do a digital zoom on my image when I'm shooting
it might seem like a good idea
unfortunately
the images or the zooming in is not smooth it goes in very
harsh increments
so
definitely
only
pinch to zoom before you start shooting
not during even though you can
but if you must do it here's a better way to do it hold one finger on
the screen
and only move with the other finger
and this lets you do it and point one increments
it makes you..it lets you
do a very controlled motion of the zooming if you must zoom when you're
shooting a video
so here's a quick video i shot with everything we've covered so far
that's the end of the do's and don'ts segment of how to shoot better
video with the samsung galaxy note 2 and i hope the knowledge will help you
capture better video
in the future
so it looks like we're out of a time for today I'm trying to keep the videos in this
series at about five minutes so please tune in tomorrow for two tips on how to
share these gigantic video files conveniently over email
so that's the end of this episode i hope you got something out
of it
