PETER GREENBERGER: The internet allows this two-way
conversation, not just allowing citizens to learn
more from their
representatives, but vice versa.
Representatives can now understand and hear directly
from constituents, whether it's on their social
networking site, whether it's through following one another
on Twitter, or through advertising or through blogs
or through any of the other tools
that are on the internet.
And I think it allows them perhaps to catch trends
earlier than they may have otherwise.
It allows them to keep the citizens up to date on what
they're doing, what they're thinking, and to
solicit their opinion.
It's a great way to have these virtual town halls.
Instead of having them occasionally when only some of
the people can attend, it's now a 24-hour virtual town
hall, which every citizen can attend and
make their voice heard.
