Hello, I’m Rachael Ruble
with FiberLine Communications.
Thank you for joining us
for this discussion
about BYOD (Bring your own device)
and how it can reduce capital expenses
for your company.
With the use of virtual desktops,
many businesses are finding BYOD,
“bring your own device”
to be a safe practice
that is resulting in significant
improvements in their bottom lines.
By allowing employees
to bring their own mobile devices,
employers are saving the capital expenses
that would be required to buy computers
and software licensing for these employees.
BYOD also reduces
the need for companies
to update aging computer equipment
and refreshing out of date software.
Additionally, operating expenses
are going to decrease
as BYOD participation increases.
For example, on average,
25% of all IT budgets
are consumed by computer management
and troubleshooting.
With employees who choose to BYOD,
the employees purchase the devices;
pay the monthly bills,
and deal directly with the customer care
departments that provide
the device and the service.
This removes strain from IT budgets,
and decreases demand
on the valuable time of personnel
in the IT department of your company.
This frees IT departments
to refocus on activities
that directly contribute
to the bottom line of your company.
Approximately 75% of all of all mobile devices
and tablets in the United States
are personally owned.
Companies that are adopting BYOD
implementation are reaping the benefits
of adding valuable state of the art equipment
and applications to their existing
resources at virtually no additional cost.
With virtual desktops on mobile devices,
all data storage goes
to the centralized servers
rather than requiring large amounts
of storage for each
and every personal device.
Not only does this save money,
but also increases security
by reducing the chance
that valuable data
(that would have been stored on the device)
is lost or falls into the wrong hands
if a device is stolen or lost.
Not all employees will choose
to use their own devices for work,
but trends are establishing that many do,
and each that does reduces
the strain on company budgets.
According to most businesses
that allow BYOD,
the top benefit is improved productivity.
On average, the technology
used on personal devices
is far more state-of-the-art,
then the technology
provided by most employers.
