Disability Rights New Jersey (computerized voice)
Hi. This is Bethany La Londe with the Assistive Technology Advocacy Center
of Disability Rights New Jersey
This is a tablet computer and today I’d like to talk about some programs, or “apps”
That can be used by individuals with brain injuries.
this particular app is called “Tap to Talk.” It's a free app available for
Android and Apple platforms. “Tap to Talk” is a communication program which can
allow people with brain injuries or any communication difficulties to express
how they feel through their emotions or provide ways in which they need some
assistance.
For example:
“I’m angry. I don’t like this.” (computerized voice)
It's very common for someone with a brain injury to get frustrated.
And this would be a way for them to signal that they need time out.
“I want a drink.” (computerized voice) Or if they need a drink they can use
that to signal they need some assistance.
This free app is very basic but can be customized with different languages,
vocabulary and even your own voice. For more information on assistive
technology please contact Disability Rights New Jersey’s website.
