This rather interesting looking box
has a compressor that one of our board
members built about fifteen years ago
and in order to build it we used a
tank from a fire extinguisher
and we used two compressor units and the
reason we used two is because when one starts
it puts a load on this small generator
that we use to generator the electricity.
If we used a big enough single compressor
it would over load the generator. So we have
two. One starts and then fifteen seconds
later the other one starts.
All of this stuff provides air for the
dental equipment and for the drills and what
people call drills and it keeps things going.
So this thing has worked very well
it is compact and easy to move around.
So that is why we like to use it.
In a minute we will start the generator up
and see if we can get this thing to work.
It's the first time we have done it this year.
Who knows what's gonna happen.
Start!... whoa first time!
Back over here we will turn this on and
see what happens.
sounds good so far.
That's the first motor starting.
When the light...
there's the second one kicking in.
So we don't put an extra load
on the generator.
The other thing we can do with this
is we always have a flat tire up here.
We have three or four at a time.
So we have a tire valve, inflating valve to inflate tires.
That's an extra this thing will do for us.
So that is this end of the whole operation.
I will show you the other part.
Which is the suction. Okay? ready for that? okay
This is the unit that provides suction
to clear out the fluids from people's mouths
and as you can see it is a Home Depot small
shop vac and it goes... it is attached
to a long hose and goes all the way
over here to this unit which you can see
is an Igloo cooler which is the suction
canister.
That suction in there, then through this
unit up here goes directly to where the
person is working.
So that when it is all turned on we have suction.
It works with a foot controller.
It's only a six volt unit because we are always
worried about bringing high voltage
into the operating area where there may
be water on the floor so I put a relay in the
unit and it works with a six volt switch.
When people want to turn the suction on
they just press this switch it turns it on.
This is another unique product of Cape CARES.
This blue box. It is very durable for travel.
It was especially engineered by Dr. Baldwin and
our engineer Skip.
This is when we deliver directly to the patient.
A high speed air driven drill.
We have syringe that squirts air and water
low speed drill.
This is all hooked up to our compressor there.
We have the suction in which Dr. Baldwin
demonstrated there. This is the other end of that
We will put a sterilized tip on that.
This is where we the patient is.
This is kind of where it all comes together
around the patient and we deliver the care here.
