I believe there is a lot of talk and a lot of buzz
around corporate social responsibility
at the moment and how companies become
more responsible in the corporate environment.
I fully believe that supported employment
can help those corporate social responsibility needs
and help them achieve a better rounded
business in total.
How employer's can ensure that somebody
with a disability can add value to their business
through supported employment, can be through
working very closely with the job coach
when they're sorting out placements
or picking a specific candidate, making sure
that they're not going to be a hindrance,
but a help to the organisation.
It's a fantastic opportunity, my own family have
had somebody in supported employment over
the last number of years and the sense
of well-being within the organisation, within the staff
when he is working, within the customer base,
I highly recommend it.
My hopes for the future for supported employment
are that more and more businesses understand
the benefit of it to themselves, that it's not seen
as something that is negative towards
their own business or their own commercial aspects
to whatever they're doing.
I want to get it more aware out there in
the community around the country and that people
understand what it is about and the availability
of it, that people understand that they can avail
of supported employment.
It's a fantastic opportunity.
