When I designed the HP Lounge I decided that I would try to exploit all the possibilities
of materials and substrates that the HP printers could print on. So I thought then the idea
of the lounge would be that I need to make almost like a space where I think about textiles,
I think about wallpaper, I think about the kind of decorative surfaces and even printing
of lamps. I'm Karim Rashid and I'm a designer who works globally. I think digital printing
among the design community is growing pretty rapidly and I think it has to grow because
there is an immediacy and a kind of personalization and you can kind of see the results quite
quickly, especially if you're an interior designer, but also if you are designing in
textiles , designing of wallpapers, designing of carpets, all these things use technology
in a very beautiful way to make new work, new radical ideas, push boundaries. We're
developing a more, rich world, just through the opportunities we have of the technologies
we have.
