Hello, My name is Tori Pettigrew and this is my project on the authors we learned about
in this unit. So the first author is Carl Sandburg. Carl Sanburg's poems celebrated
the ordinary lives of American. he believed in ordinary Americans being able to fulfill
their American dream. Sandburg's poem "Chicago" shows how he cared about the everyday American
and growing advancements in technology to help improve the American lives. E.E. Cummings:
Cummings graduated from Harvard and expressed his concern for the individual and life's
ironies in his poems. William sought to invent an entirely fresh American poet. His subject
matter was focused on the lives of the common people. Robert Frost: Frost was a college
dropout who was honored with four and his poems portrayed the New England lifestyle.
Willian Faulkner: Faulkner is one of the most influential writers of the 20th century and
he is a Noble Peace Prize winning American novelist. Eudora Welty: Eudora Welty was an
American author who wrote short stories and novels and won a prize in 1973 for her book
The Optimist's Daughter. And that is all. Thank You!
