Interviewer: What are some of the challenges of helping people who've been laid off from the Hanford site?
Leticia: The skillsets and the wages are very different when you look at Hanford
versus non-Hanford. A lot of them come with only a high-school diploma.
Leticia: Some of them come with their degree. A lot of the skills and experience that they
come to us with is very specialized to Hanford. We're having to look at a lot of
their transferable skills to try and get them into positions that are not at Hanford.
Interviewer: How have you actually met those challenges?
Leticia: Because of the difference in the skill sets and the
wages, we do pride ourselves in tailoring our program. In order to do that,
we create and individual employment plan. And and this is specific to each client. We sit down with them
and look at what are their skills? What is their experience? What are there
barriers? What are their goals? How can we help them overcome those barriers to
reach those goals? We also offer resume critique, intensive resume critiques,
mock interviews, we do cover letter critiques,
we'll market on the job training program for them and
give them the tools necessary in order for them to market it as well. And then we also do
a job club where we can get all of our clients together to learn from each other,
not only from us, but giving them information and tips and tricks and suggestions, but
also having them sit together to share information and talk about what's working [Music Outro Begins]
what's not working,
what employer likes this, what employer likes that, how to speak to certain employers and that sort of thing.
