When I started practicing
as a civil litigator about eighteen years ago,
the whole area of civil *** assault law
unlike criminal *** assault law was really undeveloped.
I wanted to change that.
Hopefully a fair and balanced one that ensures that all aspects of the claim
are assessed.
I try to make sure I listen and I hear
my clients and I treat them with respect. I make sure
that I find out what my clients’ goals are
and then within the confines of our legal system,
I do my best to try and achieve those goals.
Lawyers tend to think that they know it all,
and in my experience, that's not the case. It's our clients
who have lived it and who have
the experience and the knowledge so
really the rule that I try to follow is to listen to my clients,
engage them and work with them
as a team to try to achieve their goals.
