I'm Maureen Nass.
I'm 66 years old and live in San Rafael, California.
I've been happily married for 37 years to my great husband Ron.
I've had two children.
And now I have two grandchildren.
I spend my fun time with my groups.
I belong to so many groups and I'm in and out all the time
that I made this little quilted wall hanging,
so when my husband comes home he can look at this and say,
oh, she's at book club today.
One of my greatest joys is my love of quilting.
I just love working with color,
just organizing the pieces of fabric, putting them together.
I just love it.
And all this brings me great joy in my life.
Well, it was a typical morning.
I went in to get dressed.
I had just a touch of dizziness.
Next thing I knew I was waking up in the Cardiac Care Unit
of Kaiser Permanente.
They placed a stint in my one artery.
I was told one was blocked but the others were pristine clear.
The doctors, the nurses there,
I couldn't have gotten better care.
I can't say enough good things about them.
They listen.
And that's what I really like about the doctors I have today
as opposed to the ones I used to have under another plan.
I feel I'm a survivor both emotionally and physically.
I've had what people tell me has been a tough life,
and I guess I will admit it has been.
I had three near death experiences between my
heart attack and my two cancers.
But I'm not going to let those things define who I am.
