Mercy Corps and funded by USAID, Pristina's rectory got pavilion that will be used by
remaining Serbs and all those who come here as place for recreation. Apart of pavilion,
there is also a little park with swings and seesaws that mean a lot to remaining Serbian
children.
>> Archpriest Stevo Mitrić -- St. Nicholas Church in Pristina: Every beginning is difficult
but thanks to Mercy Corps we succeeded to implement some projects to make life of this
community much easier because this is mostly community of elderlies and they need to rest,
they need a shadow and in this shadow together with donor we came to idea to construct this
pavilion that represent kind of help to Serbian community, a place where they can hide from
all problems they have in the town, a place where they can read something, to have coffee,
juice and to enjoy company of each other.
>> Journalist: People from everywhere are welcome to this rectory. Apart of having place
where they can rest and where they can try to forget their problems, they also can get
information about everything they are interested in informative center based within this rectory.
Those who are looking for recreation can play table tennis and this center also provides
accommodation.
>> Miloš Jovanović, Manager of Information Center in Pristina: Information center in
Pristina was established through donation of Mercy Corps and program lasted for nine
months. However, information center used to exist even before that. Purpose of the project
was to help people in need for interpretation support, advice or transport. Beneficiaries
were contacting us for these services because church was the only institution that did not
change its location after the war. People were coming here to find safe place where
they could ask for help.
>> Journalist: Funds for equipping rectory and Info Center located within rectory were
provided by USAID in value of 3,500 EUR as well as 3,500 EUR for construction of pavilion.
