Hello, and welcome to Namak Mirch Masala Today, we're going to show you how to make
a modified Chicken Soup that's made with Indian spices.
The nice thing about this dish is that you can use a slow cooker which makes it really
easy to make. So for this, you're going to need the following
ingredients which you'll also find a list of in the description below this video.
1 whole chicken that's been washed and cut, ½ cup of corn oil which isn't pictured here
1 green bellpepper 4 tomatoes and 4 carrots which are not shown
here 10-15 green beans
1 cup of corn 1 cup of peas
??? 1 table spoon???? Ginger and Garlic Paste. You can either buy this from your local Indian
store or you can also grind your own ginger and garlic, and it'll be the same thing.
1 tablespoon of turmeric powder 2 tablespoons of coriander powder
1 teaspoon red chili, 2 teaspoons of salt which are not shown here
Lastly, you need 1 bunch of green onions. First, we're going to start off by chopping
our fresh ingredients. So we're going to go ahead and chop up our green onions.
Now, this is a fairly flexible recipe in terms of the vegetables you want to use. You can
pretty much use any type of vegetables that you like or if you don't like certains vegetables
you don't have to use it. You can also use fresh or frozen vegetable ingredients. It's
pretty much up to what you what'd you'd like to do.
Here we're just chopping up our bellpeppers. We'll also go ahead and chop the tomatoes.
And, we'll chop up the carrots. Now for the cooking, we're going to start
off by using a pan for the chicken but we'll switch over the slow cooker once we're done
with this part. You're going to add ½ cup of corn oil to
the pan which in this case is set to high heat.
Add the chicken. Next, add the ginger garlic paste. This basically just crushed ginger
and garlic. If you can't find this at your local Indian store, you can always just crush
your own. Stir your ingredients.
Okay, now we're going to add our spices. A good tip here to is to lower the heat in order
to avoid burning the spices and losing the flavor.
Add the turmeric powder. Add the coriander powder
Add the red chili. Be sure to stir from time to time.
Add the salt. We're going to stir the chicken here again and let it cook for about 5 minutes
on the stove. The end result of that should look something
like this. From here, we can go ahead and use the slow
cooker making things really easy. Set your slow cooker to high and add the cooked
chicken to it. Now we're going to add our vegetable ingredients.
Add the green beans. Add the tomatoes.
Add the carrots. Add the green onions.
So here, we've added and mixed our vegetables. Now we're going to add water to the slow cooker.
Add about 10-12 cups of water. We actually forgot to add our corn and peas
so we're going to do that now. The order doesn't really matter either way.
Once, you've added everything make sure you stir it well.
Cover your slow cooker and let it cook for at least 5 hours.
And that's it! You'll have a slow cooker full of soup. You can eat any kind of bread you
like. I like to use sourdough personally. I hope you enjoyed this recipe. If you liked
