Hi, I'm Daniel Green, and this is The Better Cook. I'm making for you healthified chocolate
lovers brownies, and we are gonna take the calories and the fact down with just a few
little tweaks to the recipe. I'm gonna pop in some sugar here, and then we're gonna throw
in some yogurt. Now this is fat-free yogurt, vanilla. And by adding this we're going to
really take out some of the oil you'd normally put in this dish, which reduces that saturated
fat. A little bit of canola oil is gonna bring this dish together. And egg whites. Now by
adding egg whites, it's a perfect way to reduce the fat again, because the egg yolks contain
all the fat. By doing this, a traditional recipe will be about eight grams per serving
of fat. This is only two. Calories from 150 down to 110. So you're saving 75 percent of
the fat by making this recipe. Give that a nice mix. And that's all done. A little bit
more vanilla flavor. Couple of teaspoons. One, two. And then we start to add the flour.
And I'm going to incorporate just in a few moments. I'd love for you to get the kids
involved, because they don't need to open a packet of brownie mix. Let them make it
from scratch like this. It couldn't be easier. And then, throw in some unsweetened cocoa
powder. That's 27 percent fewer calories, so we're really bringing down calories and
fat where you can love and enjoy your brownies any time. And I've just preheated the oven
at 350 degrees. We need to bake it for 25 to 30 minutes. But the best way to do this
or any baking is take a toothpick and just when the timing is about up, stick a toothpick
in the middle, if it comes out clean, it's ready to go. If it's a little bit sticky or
moist, then you might just want to pop it back in the oven for a couple more minutes.
Now, a little bit of salt and all of that has mixed together in just seconds. Now, I've
got a baking pan. I'm gonna take some spray. Give it a nice coating like this. And then,
with a spatula, empty this into the pan. And give it a little bit of a spread just so it
cooks evenly as well. In the corners just like this. Now, take my oven glove and we're
gonna check it out for these beautiful brownies. Just in here at 350 degrees, 25 to 30 minutes,
and the smell of freshly baked brownies is in the kitchen. I'm gonna pop it here just
to cool off. And as they cool, I cut some up here just a little bit earlier to powder
with some powdered sugar, so they look beautiful, they taste fantastic, and you've made yourself
a real treat. Chocolate brownies bringing down the fat and the calories to help you
become a better cook.
