[intro music]
>> STRYDER: You know how much he likes to drive, so that might be the worst thing for
him.
>> DUDE: But he's not going to spend more than a day in jail if that?
>> STRYDER: If, if, if this happened in Washington, that's most likely what would happen, unless
they charged him with more than a DUI, because what you describe is way more than just a
DUI, that's reckless endangerment, that's reckless driving...
>> DUDE: um hmm.
>> STRyDER: He can get, you know, punished for blocking off the street in and of itself,
um...
>> DUDE: Resisting arrest?
>> STRYDER: Resisting, consumption, I mean, you know, if he admitted using marijuana and
he had any of it on his person he could get charged with possession, there's a ton of
stuff they could charge him with.
What they'll probably do is charge him with a few of those things and then his attorney
will come in and negotiate them down, get some of them knocked off so that he pleads
to one or two of them, that's usually what happens, unless for some reason there's a
glaring hole in it, his attorney can jump in, and, you know, open that hole even wider
and then get him something great, but, you see in these cases, you've seen it with football
players in Washington before, um, I think Warren Moon got a DUI a few years back, and
a lot of times what these guys do is just go in and say "you know what, I did it, I'll
take the punishment," and you know he's going to twirl it into, he's going to spin it to
make himself look great by being an advocate against drunk driving...
>> BEN: Yep.
>> KAT: Um hmm.
>> STRYDER: I mean, that's what I would do if I was his attorney, that's what I would
make him do.
>> BEN: Oh, so we can get ready for some mad, M-A-D-D ads with Justin Beiber.
>> STRYDER: Yep, he can use his celebrity for good, I mean, as a result of this, he's
not really going to have a choice.
>> BEN: Now, what are the chances of him, is it at all possible that, of him being deported
for this?
>> STRYDER: Ha ha ha...
>> KAT: That's what we're hoping for.
>> STRYDER: So he's Canadian right?
>> BEN: Yeah.
>> BENDER: Yeah.
>> STRYDER: Okay. I don't, I don't know that much about him, my daughter loves him, but
I know that much about him.
>> BENDER: Yeah, seriously. Don't spin that. I can't believe you threw your daughter under
the bus.
>> KAT: Yeah, you don't need the disclaimer.
>> STRYDER: Um, no, I don't, there there's not a lot of chance that he'll be deported
because of this, uh, if you, if you...
>> BENDER: What will it take Stryder!?
>> STRYDER: Is he a citizen here? Is he a citizen?
>> BEN: He's a Canadian citizen. I think he's here on a work visa.
>> BENDER: That's pure speculation, by the way.
>> STRYDER: That's some work visa, um, they would, it would have to be a lot more serious
than a DUI to get deported, I can tell you that.
>> BEN: And that, could they deny him, when his visa's up, could they deny him, uh, the
reup of it because of this DUI situation?
>> STRYDER: See, now you guys have a point, there's how you get rid of him.
[laughter]
Although it's not likely, any time you get arrested, and even just arrested, not even
convicted, but charged with anything in the state, and you try to reup on your visa, like
you said, and I'm not an immigration attorney so I don't know the exact details of it, but,
this is what I know from working with immigration attorneys, it makes it that much more difficult.
They are not going to reissue you a permit to stay in this country while a case is still
pending, so that means while the case is still open.
They would have to wrap it up down there and then, you know, try to reapply, but, I mean,
he's got all the money in the world, he'll be able to figure it out. This isn't going
to get him back to Canada.
>> BENDER: Damn it!
>> STRYDER: Ha ha.
>> BENDER: All right. Hey ahh, again, Emerald City Law Group, Stryder thanks for the time,
we appreciate you giving us some insight onto what in the hell is going on down there.
>> STRYDER: Hey no problem. Oh, just one more thing you guys, Go Hawks.
>> BEN: GO HAWKS!!
>> KAT: Go hawks!
[laughter]
>> BENDER: Alright dude, thank you.
>> STRYDER: Yep, bye.
>> BENDER: Stryder, again, from Emerald City Law Group, he was on with us a couple of months
ago from ask a defense attorney. So uh, that's uh, you know, type text is coming in "I'm
Canadian and we don't want him back."
>> KAT: Where's he going to go? He's going to have to go South.
>> BEN: Maybe he'll go to Dubai like Michael Jackson. That seems liek where all the troubled
celebrities go, Dubai.
>> KAT: That's where the rich people go...
