To create a new Windows Server 2012 Virtual Machine on
Windows Azure, we start by clicking New
then Virtual Machine and Quick Create
We will provide a unique DNS name for our Virtual Machine which will also be the
Windows Server machine name
Select a secure password
and the size of the Virtual Machine we'd like to create
We can set other location information if we like, then just click Create
Virtual Machine
And this will begin the provisioning process
And this takes usually a few minutes to create a new Virtual Machine
When the Virtual Machine is ready for us to connect
the status will change to running, that is our indication that it's safe to
connect
To connect to the Virtual Machine we simply select the row
And a series of new buttons will appear at the bottom of the screen
We click the Connect button
and Windows Azure will download to our local machine a .rdp file
which has all the information for the remote desktop client to connect to our newly
created Virtual Machine
We simply supply the administrator password that we
provided when we created the Virtual Machine
Then click through a couple security prompts because this is the first time
we've connected to this actual Virtual Machine
And within a matter of moments we are now connected and logged into our new Windows
Server 2012 Virtual Machine
Ready to install and configure whatever software is required for your
application deployment
