Hello and welcome to the Skinny Fort Lauderdale. I'm Melissa.
Fresh on the heels of Super Bowl Fever: It looks like South
Florida sports fans could be in for a big day on Wednesday.
We're learning that David Beckham, City of Miami Mayor
Carlos Gimenez and Major League Soccer are preparing for a
major announcement Wednesday. The city and MLS have been
trying to reach a deal to bring a professional soccer team
to Miami. Beckham would be an investor and face of the team.
Another Monday, another storm in the Northeast impacting travel
at South Florida's airports. Already today: Fort Lauderdale
Hollywood International Airport racking up 46 delays and 23
flight cancellations into the New York City area. MIA experiencing
just over a dozen delays on flights headed to the northeast.
The city of Lauderdale Lakes is considering adding red light cameras.
But commissioners there say they want it to be used as a crime
fighting tool, not a new revenue source. The support comes just
after fellow Broward city Hallandale voted to ditch red light cameras.
For new moms looking to get active, it's the Riverwalk Stroller Walk.
The meetup happens tomorrow at 3:30 at Esplanade Park across from the
Museum of Science and Discovery and goes until about 5.
That's the Skinny Fort Lauderdale for Monday February 3rd.
We'll see you on ShowRodeo.com.
