Hello and welcome to Caseking TV. Today we have mice as topic.
As i mentioned earlier its hard to choose when you got this huge range of products for offer.
Today i got me some professional assistance. Hi Jonas.
Many of you will know him from FPS or MMORPG gaming.
Johnny R. a legend with the AWP in CS and also played Nihilum in the end.
So i thought i get some advice as i am not that much into mice.
We got a lot on the table, so what is the main difference Jonas ?
First of all the shape, some like big mice, some prefer small ones.
Some guys are left handed, that´s why we got some symetrcal mice too.
Thy can be used right- and left-handed.
Light and heavy mice, even for me decision is quite hard.
I also developed mice, so there are many differences in hardware which you don´t see at first glance.
They might look the same, but the difference is really big sometimes.
Many might be interested in the sensing. Earlier we had ball mice, optical and now we have laser.
On top we have the DPI, as i know its dots per inch, but what is the DPI for the gamer, what to buy ?
DPI, or better CPI is easy to explain. It is in a way the maximum speed a mouse can do without interpolation.
Earlier we had screen resoltion like 1024x768. If you had for example 800 dpi
you could move 800 pixel on the screen when moving the mouse 1 inch.
We got much bigger resolutions nowadays, dual monitor setups and big screens.
Where you need to do lik this when using 800dpi. Else you would need a big mousepad.
High dpi can be a pro on these setups. That is a reason why many people had real big mousepads.
First MS Optical had like 400 dpi and people tended to do like this rather than losing precision.
Not a problem anymore. Everything got more compact, we have more than 5.000 dpi in some mice.
Which is enough even for three monitor setups
One thing i always tried and never worked out for me. In a FPS for example
like having high dpi for moving and fast turns and when sniping going low sense for accuracy. Does it make sense ?
Yes, depending on the speed of the game. In Quake e.g. there is no need, Simply too fast.
In other games like Battlefield i know guys that use this feature. Like when using a flax e.g.
then running with your rifle, so switching with one click is really nice. We have that on some here too.
On app 50%. Yes, Steel, Mionix, Razer should have it, the R.A.T. too and the Kone from Roccat.
Zowie could also have it, not sure. We´ll put the info on display.
I use it quite often on desktop when you come out of the game.
Old dpi still and the mouse goes wild on the desktop. One click and fine, can be useful.
Let´s have a look on some models, looking for special features.
Let´s start with the Saiph 3200 from Mionix. Side buttons, enlighted mousewheel.
And down here we have a weight management, which we also have on the Roccat Kone.
We find them separately with the Roccat, in the Mionix they are inside the mouse.
Apart from using it yourself, do you like this feature ? Does it make sense for an average gamer ?
Esepcially for people who like to have more weight it is a good thing.
Else there is no real reason to put another 30 g on top for normal users.
Usually you want a light mouse and even the option makes it heavier.
Also a bit more pricey, as with all features, but a pro is you can get better balance in the mouse.
Nice wherever you place the weights within the moude then.
Two right handed ones, we have a third one here where you can adjust the whole mouse.
The Saitek Cyborg which is totally adjustable gets my personal interest, since i have quite big hands.
Yours are also not the smallest i would say.
I would mostly like to adjust my mouse a bit, but stability must be checked, or a higher model with metall ?
I didn´tuse myself, but of course the higher models with metal groundplates look more stable.
It´s a nice feature but you have less to hold due to free areas in between.
Perhaps you don´t sweat that much because of better ventilation. Nice idea anyway.
Here we have the Zowie AM-GS. Glossy sides, very new from Zowie.
And again, like others did with you, developed together with pro gamers.
It´s an optical mouse, very pure design, even without any drivers.
Very light compared with other, no weights, no lights. They focussed on the important things.
They focussed on tournament players and not on fetaures.
Tailored for FPS gamers. Very good successor of the MS Intellimouse 1.1 which looks wuite same.
Shape is quite same, onl one more button on each side.
Intended as a successor and with five times higher CPI and better lift distance.
Lift distance .. i found a very old one at work. Even in this height i could still track it.
Normally you lift the mouse so it doesn´t move anymore, right ?
The less lift distance the better.
Generally speaking yes, older mice had like 3-4 mm in the beginning.
Then we had some with better sensing with even higher lift off, which was not good.
You had to lift it and when putting it down mouse tended too shake a bit.
Some use a second lense, others the firmware. Lasers have this problem less often.
Good sensors don´t have that problem at all. 1 mm or even less.
With software you could raise that but i don´t see the point why someone should do so.
In my opinion a high con and no sense doing so.
We have two mice with a different look, the NZXT Avatar S and the Steelseries Sensei.
Although you could do any colour most of´em are black, any special reason ?
Or just because it ´s a favourite colour, although its not a colour, but lets keep that for next time.
I think it´s the easiest to produce, even the iPhone had problems with white.

Black is a colour where you don´t see every stain, although this one isn´t that shiny.
A white sample is faster dirty, probably a reason for the colour of your shirts too.
I don ´t have a clue why there should be other reasons.
On the avatar we have a special shape, you can put your thumb here.
Left- and right-handed.
Then we have the Razer Lachesis, which also has a special shape.
Both handed. The Steelseries Kana with a bit of orange, so at least some colour.
Laser on the Razer and Kana is optical.
I could name all the sensors, this is a Philips and this must be a Pixar optical.
Yeah. They are different of course, i mean this one is a bit longer on the market.
The newest laser sensor is built in those two, Roccat Kone + and the Sensei.
This has these features like an adjustable lift distance.

So newest laser technology we find in Roccat Kone+ and Steelseries Sensei.
Optical it would be Zowie AM or AM-GS. Yes, this would be the high end optical sensor.
The other one here would be good midfield, with an earlier sensor, but still very good one.
Many gamers still use older ones. You mainly miss features like adjustable lift distance,
lower DPI. In newer mice it´s more higher DPI advertised.
General differences only, i could even talk for an hour just on sensor differences.
What i think is most important, so come to our store in Berlin, where we display a lot of mice
because now matter how good technology is. You need to play good with it with your hand.
If you´re feeling uncomfortable with a mouse, you probably won´t play that good with it.
Perhaps you adjust to the mouse in time, this might help, but you need to feel fine with it.
A very important point, apart from technology.
You already heard what we would recommend from technological point of view.
All the models are good mice or did we pick any wrong exmaples here ? No, wouldn´t say that.
Well, just ran through the warehouse and picked what i could find.
Last questions, mousepad and mouseglides.
How important is this gear for gamers ? What do you use yourself ?
I nearly tried all different kinds, aluminium, plastic, cloth mousepads.
Different size, thicknesses, grains. I love plastic pads, because they are really fast.
Other peole like it slower, they take fabric.
Everybody needs his own favourite and how fast he wants it.
If you still need it faster, than you can use those mouse skatez.
Of course they wear off a little, but better on the glides then on an expensive mousepad.
That´s why new ones are softer to increase durability.
Even on fabric some people use glides to improve the resistance for the first move.
That´s quite often used. On plastic and aluminium it could get too fast for people.
Can´t be fast enough for me. There even was Teflon spray in former times.
If anybody still knows. You could then just blow the mouse on the mousepad. Did really work.
This here would be a medium to big size mousepad. If you play low sense gat a big one.
It doesn´t help if you have a small one then, only for high sense gamers.
All colours and sizes available at Caseking of course.
If you wanna see Jonas in action, we are not allowed to show directly because of PEGI,
we put some video below, where you can watch Johnny R. in action.
So you can see who told you something about mice.
Many might still know you, but some don´t. We are not doing it for gamers anyway.
Hopefully we gave you a good overview, thanks for being our guest. My pleasure.
We hope to see you again next time on Caseking TV.
