What is the best way to cook turkey bacon? Every time I cook it, I end up with turkey
jerky.
You could cook it in the microwave at medium power for ten minutes to get ultra-crispy
bacon, five minutes flipped half way through for less crisp.
It takes twice that long to clean the grease splatter out of the microwave.
Cover it with paper towels before you cook it. Or cook it in the toaster oven.
My boyfriend wants the crackle of pig bacon.
You aren’t going to get that with turkey bacon, because they aren’t as fat. Then
again, you don’t get all the fat of pork bacon, either.
What do you think of pan frying it?
It takes 15 minutes to cook it on the stove, less time than pork bacon. Be sure to flip
it over half way through so it doesn’t get burnt.
Can you cook turkey bacon in the oven?
You can cook it in a shallow baking pan. You can cook it at 400 degrees in the oven until
crisp, and there’s no need to flip it if you have convection heating.
I saw a really cool criss-cross pattern with bacon on a life hack list. Can you do that
with turkey bacon?
Absolutely. You can also put turkey bacon in the bacon pancake recipe.
What was that?
Put semi-cooked turkey bacon on a griddle and pour pancake batter around it. Let the
batter and bacon cook, flipping when each side of the pancake is done.
Or I could buy pre-cooked turkey bacon in those shelf-stable packs and serve.
That’s the most expensive, lazy option I’ve heard.
At least you could say turkey bacon is cheaper than pork.
None of the shelf-stable bacon is turkey bacon. It’s all pork, and all high fat.
Is that canned bacon turkey bacon?
At $20 a can, Tactical Bacon better be real pork.
