DERRICK: I'm Dr. Derrick DeSilva, thank you very much for joining us once again. It's
a real pleasure to have with us the CEO of AAG Health, um Mr. Mark White. Thank you so
much for spending some time with me today, Mark. Tell me about your vision...
MARK: Sure.
DERRICK: ...of why you started AAG Health and where ha-how has this evolved?
MARK: Now we-we started AAG Health in 2003. Um, hormone replacement therapy was just beginning
and there was a need for people to feel better. Um, people are doing it so unnaturally before,
you had people going out and getting prescription medications, getting quick fixes, and what
we found is that by balancing hormones, people were getting great results. But that wasn't
the whole picture. It wasn't just taking hormones that was getting people the great results.
We found that the people that were having the most success with our program, were the
people who were sticking to a detailed plan, and what that means is a full integrative
wellness plan.
DERRICK: When we talk about integrative wellness, you know, I've been doing-working in the world
of integrative medicine for many years. But I th-and-and I've always believed, just as
you do, that the world of wellness, it has to involve more than just a bunch of hormones.
MARK: Absolutely.
DERRICK: Talk to me a little bit about what else happens at AAG Health?
MARK: Sure, I mean for me, wellness is optimizing your quality of life. And to optimize your
quality of life, if you're taking testosterone, and you're not on an exercise plan, or you're
not eating healthy. Um, you're not going to achieve life changing energy, or life changing
quality of life. You're just not gonna get there just taking testosterone, thinking that's
a quick fix. And what we've noticed over the past two years, are that people are going
to their urologist, getting on testosterone gel, or getting a shot, and then they're saying,
"This doesn't work." And I-when I hear people coming to us, saying that this isn't working,
it does work, but it does take a plan. It's just like a business needs a plan, and execution.
We provide our clients with a plan, and then we execute it along with them as partners.
We hold them accountable and our patients love it.
DERRICK: I-I think the whole idea of the wellness coach, is something that I really like.
MARK: Mm-hmm.
DERRICK: That we do here. Can you just get into that with me a little bit? What does
the wellness coach do?
MARK: The wellness coach makes sure that we come up with a nutrition program, and an exercise
program that revolves around our clients lifestyle. A lot of times when people think about nutrition,
they think about diets. Why do diets fail? Diets fail because they don't take into account
a person's lifestyle. Um, exercise programs fail because exercise programs don't take
into account a person's lifestyle. What our wellness coach will do, is sit down with our
client, talk to them about nutrition, talk to them about their exercise. Talk to them
about supplements. And then come up with a plan that the client can stick to.
DERRICK: They also see one of us here, as what-the physicians.
MARK: Absolutely. It-it's important, and I think that's the other place where we've seen
things lapse, either with the hormone side, or the wellness side, is that the trainer's
telling the client one thing. They're getting their nutrition tips from somebody else, and
then the doctor's coming in there and saying, "Do something else." And nobody's talking
to each other. A client does-does not know what to do and then when the program fails,
the client's upset.
DERRICK: Results. People want results. Can you talk to me about that?
MARK: Sure. At-at the end of the day, people are coming to us because they have deep down
results that they're looking to accomplish. Maybe they need more energy because it's going
to help them with their career. Maybe they want to spend more time with their family.
I have three little kids, and to spend time with those little kids, is precious. And a
lot of times, people come to us and they say, "I don't have time for my family, my kids
are growing up, and when I get home from work, I'm exhausted." And what we do that's different
from anybody else, is we find out what results our client is looking to accomplish, and we
gear the whole program to getting to the-getting them to those results as quickly, safely,
and efficiently as possible.
DERRICK: I really like the fact that you use the word safely. Because there are a lot of
programs out there, where safety becomes almost secondary.
MARK: Mm-hmm.
DERRICK: For us, it's a primary.
MARK: Oh absolutely. Safety is of pri-it's prime importance. That's why we have the whole
medical team coming up with our protocols, that's why they attend all the latest medical
functions. They are all members of the age management boards. And um yeah it's just important
that we build that in there. But at the end of the day it is about the results.
DERRICK: It's about safety, it's about results, and it's about all of those, but commitment
I think is one of the most important things that we need from people.
MARK: If our clients are committed, we can get them the results they're looking for.
DERRICK: Define commitment for me.
MARK: Sure. When people come to us, sometimes they believe this is an easy fix. Like there's
somehow this pill you can take, or a shot you can take, and it's gonna make all their
problems go away. What they don't realize is that this is a partnership. Between the
wellness coach, the patient, and the physician. And when the phy-the patient does their part;
when they're committed to the plan that we design for them, they will get results.
DERRICK: Once you have a road map, you know where you need to go.
MARK: Correct.
DERRICK: If you're driving around in circles, you're not going to get to where you want
to be. We will help them develop this road map.
MARK: Absolutely. We can ensure that a client who follows the plan will have success. Because
the wellness coach also holds the client accountable.
DERRICK: Thank you very much for joining us.

DERRICK: And you know, this-this program is something that has been needed throughout
this country.
MARK: Mm-hmm.
DERRICK: Because it has to be a comprehensive approach and thank you so much for having
the vision and being able to put this together.
