Ken: A few years back I was working in the mental health system, working with children
who had mental health diagnoses. It struck me that so many of these families were really
struggling with their marriage because of all the things they had to deal with and realizing
that if they just had a few skills they'd be able to do a whole lot better by working
with marriages, focusing on that specific relationship that holds families together,
that I could do really good things and really change life for a lot of people.
A good marriage, a healthy marriage, is one in which both of the people participating
are really both expressing themselves as individuals and pursuing something together as a couple.
Marriage is supposed to be fun and it can be with some very simple things for most people.
When I look at the number of people that we've served and the positive impact that it's had
on their life, I'm really thinking about people who are freed up from having to struggle daily
with a tough relationship and are now able to raise their kids and have a lot more fun
doing it. A Classroom TWOgether Pittsburgh is just a phenomenal way for them to walk
through some of those issues and talk through some things that they might not have thought
about before.
