OK, next after you've recorded your data and everything's recognized, click, you want to
highlight your recorded data by clicking it. OK? And then what we'll do is go up to our
MIDI window, our MIDI setting under our windows. We'll click MIDI and scroll down to Open Key
Editor or Key Editor. Click that and next just a screen similar to this one should appear
if you're not using this same software. And which, if you will notice to the left of this
is a keyboard, a piano. OK? That's why it was necessary to learn the theory because
in recording with MIDI you have to know a general understanding of music in order to
make sure everything works appropriately. OK, now if you see our notes, this is the
click drum beat. You can push play to hear it. Now if you notice, my beats are not precisely
on the one. They're kind of a little over in some places. So it's a little early actually.
This one's even more so. So what we're going to do is stop our track for now and we're
going to go in and you see here on number two? I'm going to put my cursor on the bar
and the little arrows up here, OK? And I click that, I hold the click button and I scroll
to the right to kind of line it up. Now if you notice here when I'm holding it, you see
that the numerical information appears, OK? What that does is tell you precisely where
you're located in regards to your measurement. OK? I want to line up on the two, which will
be noted as the the 2.1, OK? And that's where I want to line it up pretty much exactly 2.1.
Not 1.4 cause that's actually early. The closer you can get to 2.1 the better. It really won't
make that much of a difference once you hear it in your recording, if it's a little early
or a little late, but just for, I guess professionalism or professional's sake, I'm just showing you
how to get everything precise. You want to do each one individually. Just like I showed
you on the previous one. Go there and you can line it up by just clicking, holding it.
The next one's on three so we're going to line it up with 3.1, OK? And just follow that
same procedure for each one. Now drum sounds, they don't need, the bars don't need to be
very long. So if you keep pretty short like this in between the one and the two of that
measure, that should be long enough for your kick drum.
