Hi, I'm Trevor Bending from Optics Planet, and I'm here today to talk about the Armasight Dark
Strider Gen 1 Binocular. Armasight put all the features you want in a night
vision binocular in this package right here.
You have your IR illuminator that's a really nice feature, because it's
actually adjustable. So I can go from close range, almost flooded, and I can turned it out
to be a long range IR illuminator, which is a nice feature on a Gen 1 binocular.
Even the flip caps right here,
they have a tether built in, so I can just pull them back, stays right there, don't
have to worry about losing them. Flip caps are very very important on a night vision
unit, because during the day, you definitely don't wanna have that exposed, because you can
really hurt the intensifier tube, so it's nice to have those tethered lens covers
right there.
I have the power button and the IR button easily on the side where I'm naturally going to have my
hand grip right here,
and then I actually have LED indicators showing me that, yep, the power's on and
yep, the IR's on. A really nice feature there.
Focusing's done on the eyepieces,
and I was just playing around with it a few minutes ago, and I could focus this thing
down to about 3 feet.
They even say it's much further than that in the manual, but at about 3, 4 feet, I was getting a
really nice picture with these. Nice, not too heavy for a night vision
binocular.
Tripod mountable as well, so you can just attach it to a 1/4x20 threading
tripod adapter,
set it right there and stand behind it, so you don't have to hold it.
Good grip on them as well, nice rubber armor.
Weather and water-resistant, fog resistant as well, so really nice package from
Armasight in a Gen 1 binocular. Armasight actually calls it a Gen 1+,
because the intensifier tube has higher specifications
for a Gen 1 unit. So a really nice package
from Armasight.
Now, the Dark Strider takes one CR123 battery, and it comes with
it.
Battery life can be as low as twelve hours with the IR on all the time,
all the way up to 58 hours if you're not using the IR at all. So really
good battery life on this. Comes with a neck strap,
and with a decent case in there as well, so you get a lot with this package.
This is a perfect unit for the outdoorsman,
the camper, you know, if you're just walking the dogs at night, and you wanna know what's going on, this
is a perfect unit for you.
You can find the Dark Strider at OpticsPlanet.com, I'm Trevor Bending, thanks
for watching.
