Hello, I'm Tracy Husted
Family Advocate / Family Mentor
Hello, I'm Marta Ordaz
Multicultural / Client Support Specialist
My understanding is that in America, people are required to have health insurance
That is correct
But I know some of people who doesn't have it, what do they do?
Yes, true but there is good news for them
In 2010, a new law called the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was passed requiring people to be covered with health insurance
The deadline for people to be covered with health insurance is March 31, 2014
If you are not covered by March 31, what would happen?
you may get penalized
which means Goverment sees that you don't have health insurance, which will cost you
you will have to pay an expensive penalty
Each year you have no health insurance, the penalty increases higher
If you already have health insurance, great!
However, if your children are uncovered, the penalty still will apply to you
Right now the federal government is helping each state make sure you are covered
How? California has a new program called Covered California (CC)
CC is a program that offers you an affordable health plan
and plus for some of you who qualifies get additional financial assistance
and chose the health insurance that meets your needs
DCARA has joined CC which mean we can help you get enrolled in a health insurance plan
Here at DCARA, we have several Certified Enrollment Counselors (CEC)
What does CEC do?
We can help you sign up for a health plan that fits you
