>> Narrator: People who live in blocks of flats like the same high quality TV as people
who live in houses.
For an increasing number, that means taking out a subscription to Sky TV.
For managing agents and landlords, the challenge is finding an affordable, easy way for residents
to subscribe to sky TV, without putting up their own satellite mini dishes.
>> Sanjay: Mini dishes often spoil the appearance of the development. Managing agents were looking
for a single communal solution that offered easy access to Sky.
>> Narrator: To solve the problems of getting Sky TV in flats, BSkyB developed Shared Dish.
This reliable, affordable satellite communal TV solution has been installed successfully
at thousands of blocks across the UK and Ireland.
>> Sanjay: Highburgh road is a typical tenement within Glasgow, it consists of 8 apartments
and the managing agent chose Shared Dish as part of the renovation programme for the development.
>> Bryan McManus: Hi I’m Bryan McManus from Speirs Gumley, we are the managing agents
for the block at Highburgh road. We found that the Shared Dish was a much more affordable
option for the owner and provided them with the facility to subscribe to Sky if they wanted
to.
As managing agents one of the major complaints we’ve had from owners is individual minidishes
at properties. It detracts from the overall appearance. This installation has one dish
and removes aerials, cables and any other dishes on the property and really improves
the overall appearance of the building.
>> Narrator: Sky works with a UK network of specialists companies to install shared dish
at blocks of flats. They operate to agreed technical standards and all their work is
quality assured by BSkyB.
Shared Dish uses a single satellite receiver to provide digital TV for all the residents
at a block.
The system design is simple, robust and reliable, so installation is straight forward and hassle
free.
>> Gerry: I’m Gerry Kennedy; I’m the managing director of Campbell & Kennedy. We’re here
today at Highburgh road Glasgow where we installed a Shared Dish system.
Our dedicated and professional engineers fit a single communal dish and head end in an
unobtrusive location and take great care in fitting the new twin core Sky Plus cables
so that those cables blend in with the existing fabric of the building.
The installation is completed with minimum disruption. And the end result is the block
looks much neater and tidier.
We are working closely with the managing agent to ensure the residents of Highburgh road
understand the benefits of the system and how easy it is to connect up to sky.
Campbell & Kennedy are a long established business with a vast experience in the industry
sector and we take great pride on working closely with our clients and achieving a quality
finish.
It’s important to clients, following the completion of the work, that there is ongoing
service. And Campbell and Kennedy have a dedicated customer service department to ensure this
happens, and it is fully compliment with the Scottish Factoring Bill.
One of the most pleasing aspects as a business owner is when you stand back from the building
following completion of the works and it’s actually difficult to detect by the eye that
the Shared Dish installation has been completed.
>> Karen Millard: My name is Karen Millard and I get my Sky TV from the blocks communal
TV system.
We decided to get Sky TV when we heard that the block system was up and running. I went
online, had a look at different packages that were available and then contacted them by
phone. They then sent somebody out. The sky engineer came, he fitted the box to
the television, and set it all up for us, showed me how to use it and then away we went.
From our blocks communal TV system, we’ve got the Sky Plus HD package along with the
entertainment package. We’ve also got the broadband and telephone connection as well.
I would recommend a Sky communal TV system because it’s quite straight forward to set
up, also you don’t have to have a dish outside your property fitted up and I think they look
a bit of an eye sore anyway.
>> Narrator: With their new shared dish installed, residents of Highburgh road can now subscribe
to Sky TV easily, whenever they want to.
>> Sanjay: If you are a managing agent and would like to know more about Shared dish,
please call the number at the end of this video or visit our website.
