Welcome to a March of Dimes Minute.
Did you know that the Ontario Government will provide funding for people with disabilities?
It's done through a program called: "The Ontario Disability Support Program"
Today, it's referred to often as: The Disability Pension
It's available to people who are 18 years of age and older who are of modest means,
who have a disability, and who live in Ontario.
Today the maximum benefit is $1075 / month, if a person is living independantly;
or $823 / Month in a room-and-board situation.
It's not just a check though; It's also a drug card, a dental card, a vision care,
and a variety of other benefits available to people.
For example there's an employment training program, and employment startup allowance,
there's a medical transportation cost funding,
there's also some funding available for the repair and maintenance of mobility devices.
There's money available for feeding of a guide dog, for hearing aids, diabetic supplies,
surgical supplies, incontinence supplies, and even provides extra funding
to cover the portion of assistive devices programs that are not covered by the program itself.
And this has been a March of Dimes Minute.
