Listen up to this SCI CODE Pro Tip!
All around the world, scientists are shedding tears because people keep saying that they
have Theories when they mean to say that they have ideas, thoughts, opinions, or hypotheses.
All of which are ideas based on observations. Theories on the other hand, are like super-duper-graduated-tried-and-tested
explanations of nature, on steroids! You have Cell Theory, Radiation Theory, The
Theory of Gravity, and the Theory of Evolution just to name a few.
All of which contain years, decades, and centuries or research, testing, and science contributed
by many scientists. And theories are also subject to modification and rejection if new
science says so. So Theories are a big deal! And every time that people say that they have
theories, they're undermining all that work. Not to say that you may not be the next genius
behind the next scientific breakthrough. But every time people say, "it's just a theory,"
it breaks my heart! Some Theories, like evolution for example,
contain science that's so strong, and evidence so that's so compelling that it might as well
be considered a fact of nature. So the next time you're about to say you have
a Theory, just pause for a second...and say that you have a Hypothesis instead. SCI CODE!
