They're growing up fast at San Diego Zoo, and staff are loving it.
With our six-and-a-half week old cubs and they are doing great.
Feeding time is frequent and vital for their development. They're mostly on the bottle
but meals are being introduced.
They are currently getting bottle fed with some solid food introduced into their diet.
They are growing daily super fast. Everything's been going as it should. They are gaining
about 100 grams daily. They are eating everything we offer them so they are on the right track
to becoming adult lions. They have their teeth coming in so they are just now starting to
get their nice little baby teeth in and they are also becoming a lot more agile, learning
to climb and jump.
Eating and sleeping currently makes up to 20 hours per day. The cubs are being hand-raised
because their mother hasn't show interest in nursing them, something that can happen
in both captivity and the wild. They're currently unnamed, but staff reckon visitors will have
their own ideas of what they should be called.
