Environmental issues are attracting more and more attention amongst consumers.
But in fact, also other indicators should be taken into account.
During the last couple of years carbon footprint has been the most important indicator for environmental impacts.
Plenty of research information and statistics already exist.
However, they are in different locations, they have been done for different purposes and it is difficult to draw a holistic view from them.
If we look at domestic environmental effects, the most critical ones relate to water systems, to seas surrounding us and especially to the Baltic Sea.
The Baltic Sea is important also internationally, but the sea is very polluted.
Central Baltic Programme of Europe Union is very natural financing source to our FOODWEB-project.
Young families have relatively strong consideration to origins, characteristics and health aspects of food.
On the other hand, young people aged 12-15 years are at the age, when their values, attitudes and operation models towards food are developing.
The values and attitudes then carry through to adulthood.
These are the reasons why we have chosen these two target groups.
Objective of FOODWEB is to connect two opposite aspects.
In the other hand statistics and all that information, which we have of food´s environmental impacts; how our daily lunch plate affect to environment.
Alongside of the nutritional information it is important to draw attention also to environmental impacts of food production.
Another aspect is to evaluate environmental risks that relate to sourcing of food from Baltic Sea to our foodstuff.
One of the most important forums to present FOODWEB results is social media, web pages.
In our web pages everyone can test environmental impacts of different lunch plate choices.
You can also see the right nutritional value and environmental risks for the chosen plate.
Another important route to distribute our results are exhibitions.
First interactive exhibition has been built to science center AHHAA in Tartu.
Hopefully we can transfer the exhibition to countries that participate to FOODWEB project.
Exhibition interactively presents in different ways, how the environmental effects of food production are compiled.

- Okay, let's see what's already in the fridge.
Salt, oil, soda, bread..
What else? Milk, cucumber and potatoes.
- Fish tunnel where you put on the goggles.
- What is it about?
- What it feels like to be a fish in the water.
- It was odd. - And hard.
- That one where you put on the goggles.
- That place where you put on those big goggles.
- The place where you walk with the goggles.
- Yes, that fish tunnel.
