My name is Fabien Zunino and I am an Organic Chemist
I stared my career as a chemist with only a high school diploma
Effectively, it was a big leap
As I finished with a Ph.D.in Organic chemistry, which was completed in Poitiers.
Before that I was a professional sportsman,
I totally changed my career
I was a top level Kayaker on the French National team for many years,
Then when the future of my sporting career became unclear, I returned to Collage,
Where my new journey began.
In 2003, after several years in the pharmaceutical industry
With my colleague (Omar Karam)
Following the restructuring of the company we were working for,
We decided to create @rt molecule.
On the 1st of July 2003, so soon we will be celebrating 10 years of business.
There have always been international market opportunities for us.
We have been approached by international clients searching for specific molecules.
But we were not a highly recognised international brand.
We had good technical ability, and we communicated this through fairs, tradeshows and other events,
Also we really felt the need to move with the market,
Beyond France and even Europe,
To have a stronger presence.
Currently we sell in North America,
We sell in South America and all of Europe
We also have some activity in Asia... Korea and India.
We are present in these markets but this presence is not structured.
This is a great opportunity, and to make the most of it we have to do more.
We are already developing our communication tools.
To be present at the right time and place,
In fact, we have been doing this for 10 years. The first idea was to create a name
Which is @rt Molecule along with a simple logo,
That in 3 years would be a brand name synonymous with our activities
Now (In France) we have passed this stage and now the same things has to be done internationally.
We will probably need to adapt because there are cultural differences.
We have seen many clear examples
Of different approaches to businesses from country to country.
There is the language barrier, and practices that relate to regulations.
We need to understand it a little better, So we can then use it effectively,
By targeting priority countries and then adapting.
Before today's event we knew the team in Poitiers,
And we are working with them to improve our international image and structure our approach.
Today we met very competent people,
Who have already given us key advise on how to canvas.
We learnt some important facts about Germany.
In relation to the certifications on the brochure we brought with us today,
And for Germany it seems it is very important.
It was things like that, that we learnt today during our exchanges
With people who understand different countries well.
