So there's a new racing game and you're about to find out all about, it's from the developers
Slightly Mad Studios so you might be thinking is this Project Cars? But no it isn't and
even if you weren't thinking that you're about to find out everything you need to know right
here right now. I'm in Amsterdam the home of clogs and naughty green plants and you're
going to find out all about new game World of Speed.
First off let me get your attention with this bit of information from the game's creative
director Andy Tudor.
"So World of Speed can be downloaded completely for free and it is our ethos that we want
you to be able to get through the entire game without ever spending a penny."
Hold up, let's hear that again.
"World of Speed can be downloaded completely for free."
That's right. It's free. But what is it? Well here's the grand reveal it is a racing MMO
and it's based entirely on teamwork.
No longer must you race for a podium position to get a reward you can be rewarded by the
games objectives but to get these objectives you guessed it, you'll need to work as a team.
Each players drivers score is calibrated with micro-actions and combos - a mechanism pioneered
in Need for Speed: Shift which will go towards your final teams score. So no longer must
you rage quit by an instant game over if you crash on the first corner. And there's more.
Club games can take place, you fight another club to own a location and anyone who then
rides in it will see your club name and branding. You'll also get a clubhouse which is a 3D
hangout where your team can gather at each location you own. Then there's territory wars
which is this game mode where you can challenge different teams across the world map to achieve
world domination.
So why have Slightly Mad Studios made a racing MMO?
"We're really focusing on lots of people playing all at the same time, people socialising,
making friends, playing in a team based racing as opposed to its just all about a free-for-all
for who wants to get into first place and then gradually taking that to the next level
and forming a club and then you can enter a specific game mode called territory wars
where you can dominate the World of Speed."
And last but not least there will be many game modes coming in the future but here's
a little hint at one of them it is called Airfield Playground - veterans and newcomers
are invited to unite in this area to try out tricks, stunts, quests, being a general hooligan
and take official club photos but like I said this isn't all you can expect from World of
Speed.
But, wait up, before you go if you want to see me be completely terrified by supercars
you can do just that by clicking the video on the screen now. Also, if you're new, don't
forget to subscribe!
