Hi, I'm Daniel Green and this is The Better Cook. I'm making for you, sausage stuffed
shells, using ingredients off the shelf to make your life easy. Now, in this frying pan
-- nonstick -- I've taken some sausage, but the sausage is ground turkey, bringing the
fat down. Out of the cases. And we'll just cook that up and it's ready to go to mix up
with all the other ingredients. Take that off the heat. Beautifully browned. Now, we're
just gonna to throw in some ingredients, and it is going to be a fabulous dish the whole
family's gonna love, because we're gonna feed 12 people with this. I've got some spinach,
but this one is already chopped and ready to go in. This is cooked spinach that we just
drained, and you can do that on a paper towel to get rid of any moisture. But this is what
we want you to do, grab things off the shelf to make life so easy. Out the freezer to give
fresh and wonderful textures that you can have at any time, just in your pantry. But
that was from the freezer. In that we're gonna add some carrot. Now again, off-the-shelf
ingredients, this carrot's already been shredded for you, in the bag. So, we can just add it
to the bowl. Give that a nice little mix. Add into that some dried basil. And then we're
gonna to use the cheese. Now, this is going to be a ricotta cheese, which is light. Lots
of good options for you to really lighten up the dish, because 290 calories in this
one with only nine grams of fat, these are the reasons how we get to those results. You
can even buy a fat-free ricotta if you want. Now as that pulls together and becomes really
the binding of this sauce. And the mix that we're gonna stuff our pasta that I've actually
cooked, just before, and drained. I'm gonna add one more ingredient, and that's the cheese.
Now, with the cheese, we've got some we're saving for later. 'Cause we're gonna bake
it in the oven at 350 degrees for 40 minutes covered with foil, uncover it, sprinkle some
cheese on, and then we'll just let go all melty and lovely in the oven for another 5
to 10 minutes. But this is a mix of Italian cheese that's also reduced in fat, making
all those great choices for you. And, as that turkey sausage is still a little bit warm,
it's gonna to start to melt. And now all that's left to do is stuff the shells. Now, I've
got my baking tray, and I'm going to spray it with a little bit of oil so nothing sticks.
And then one last ingredient is off the shelf again. This is an Italian herb tomato sauce.
It's gonna be so easy for you to grab this, and just take a look at the back, because
there's lots of options for you in the grocery store. We want you to pick out the lowest
sodium choices, and that's gonna to be another way that you're gonna really make the best
dinner that you can. So, off that goes the lid. And I'm just gonna put about half a cup
on the base and save the rest for a little bit later. Take my spoon, and just, spread
it around, so we've got a little base here. More goes on top. And then what I've done,
is I've cooked the pasta shells, I've drained them, and I've run them under cold water,
so I can handle them very easily. And we're going to put about 24 of these into the pan,
and then bake them. It's gonna be a delicious dish. I know the whole family's gonna love
this. And, because it feeds so many people, you can make this ahead of time as well. And
you can pop it in the refrigerator. And when your guests come over, you can then bake it.
And it's gonna be fabulous. Just pop this over the side. And now, with our off-the-shelf
sauce, we're just gonna top the remaining pasta shells. And this has got an Italian
herb in there to give it a bit more flavor. And it's all gonna melt down in the oven as
we cook that. And then I'm gonna cover this. So I'm gonna take a sheet of foil. I'm gonna
take a spray, just so it doesn't stick to any of that pasta. There we go. Cover it.
This is going in the oven at 350 degrees, 40 minutes. And when that 40 minutes is up,
we'll sprinkle with some more reduced reduced-fat cheese. Let that go back in the oven for another
five/ten minutes, which is where it's at right now. Take a look at this, it's absolutely
brilliant. It's a heavy dish. Twelve people this is gonna feed. There you have it. Look
at that result. Absolutely fabulous. Now this is your sausage stuffed shells, using off-the-shelf
ingredients to make life easy for you. To help you become the better cook.
