Hi, I'm Travis with Mad Dog Cycles here in Provo, Utah. We're talking about how to install
training wheels on a bike. First thing you need to know is that there are several different
size of bicycle wheels as you know, twelve inch, sixteen inch, twenty inch, twenty-four,
twenty-six even. There are certain training wheels for certain types of bikes. For instance
this is a sixteen inch size wheel, go down to your local bike shop find a training wheel
set, tell them you have a sixteen inch size wheel bike, they should be able to get you
a whole kit. The kit consists of two wheels and the struts that mount to the frame of
the bicycle. Here again, they're specific to which size wheel you have. We had a call,
just the other day, someone looking for training wheels for a twenty-six inch, an adult size
mountain bike. They do make those, but most common are the twelve inch and the sixteen
inch and the twenty inch. To mount to the training wheel to the bicycle is fairly simple,
you just remove the nut, fifteen millimeters is the common size wrench. Remove the nut,
put the training wheel on, put the nut back on, some of the training wheels you have to
adjust, you can adjust it here at the strut or at the wheel. Now it's a training wheel,
so it's designed for the kids to learn how to balance, okay. So you don't want the wheels
all the way to ground, you want them to be a little bit of a teetering process. So you
can either make the adjustment here at the axle or at the wheel, depending on what kit
you get.
