Meet the Edge AutoStore --from Apex Supply Chain Technologies. This is a locker-style
vending solution designed to dispense large or bulky items, and assets that need to be
checked out and checked back in. The AutoStore features robust, industrial-grade
construction and clear front panels to provide high visibility of contents. Available bright
interior LED lighting and adjustable back panels make products easy to access.
The AutoStore comes in three cabinet types: A cabinet of 12 lockers, 18 lockers, and,
for taller items, a 3 door locker featuring 2 medium and one large locker. Lockers are
not limited in the number of items they can hold, from one large item, to many medium
sized items. To dispense an item from the Edge AutoStore,
employees enter their information via the keypad or optional badge reader. User information
allows the system to make restrictions such as who can dispense what, how many, and how
often. One of the unique aspects of the Edge AutoStore
is the ability to not only check out items, but to also check in reusable items. When
an employee returns an item, the AutoStore will ask if the item is ready to re-use, if
it's damaged, if the warranty has expired, or if it needs calibration. If an item is
not ready for re-use, a notification will be sent that the item should be replaced.
Assets can be assigned to be replaced or recalibrated after reaching aging values determined by
the number of hours checked out, times checked out, or days since last stocked or calibrated.
Lastly, the Edge AutoStore accommodates assets that need recharging. For example, after checking
out and using a drill, a user can return the drill to a locker with a recharging dock inside.
The Edge AutoStore is often paired with the Edge 5000. They have many of the same versatile
vending benefits, and complement each other. The Edge 5000 is great for smaller single-dispense
items, and the AutoStore is great for items of a larger size that may, or may not, need
to be checked back in after use. Inside the Edge AutoStore is Apex's intelligent
