Now we will begin with our warm-ups. Warm-ups are a wonderful way to warm up the body before
we go into our asanas, our yoga postures. We will begin with cat and dog. With cat and
dog, you first want to get into table pose. In table pose, open up the fingers nice and
wide, planting them firmly into the earth and have them be shoulder length apart. The
knees are hip length apart. The back is nice and straight. As we inhale into dog, we melt
the belly, draw the shoulder blades back, and look up to the sky; deep breath in. As
we exhale into cat, we round the back, tuck the chin to the chest, lift that tailbone,
arch the back like a nice Halloween cat. And inhale; melt the belly, draw the shoulder
blades back, melt the heart as well. Inhale; look to the sky. Exhale, round the back; coming
up into a nice big Halloween cat. Stretch that back; it feels so good, allowing mobility
into the spine, increasing the space between the vertebrae. Inhale into dog, exhale into
cat, and one more. Breathe it in, melt the belly, melt the heart, draw the shoulder blades
back, look up to the sky. And exhale; round that back, tuck the tailbone under, chin to
the chest. Feel that beautiful stretch in the shoulders and the back.
