It's hard to talk about grease without knowing what it is.
So I am going to give it I a very simple state.
The message is that the grease business is growing.
Shell's doing a fantastic job in the market and there's more opportunities for us.
We want to take a better job at taking best practices in places like Australia and sharing
them globally.
And then to have a global offer for some of the very large players and customers out there.
Where in the business to be at the top, and that's where our aspirations are to go.
We want to be the leading global supplier of quality grease products to our customers
adding value through technology and innovation.
There's been a lot of new innovation in grease that have allowed customers to extend the
life of their equipment, longer drain or service intervals on the grease.
The end result is more cost effective use of grease products and save money in the process.
Our last grease plant to open up was in Juhi, China.
The Juhi plant capacity is 30 kilo tonnes alone.
So it's a significant investment by Shell and it's certainly a significant investment
for the Asia Pacific market.
There's constant evolving in technology and innovation.
A good example would be the wind industry with the wind turbines that are out there,
and the typical greases that were used in the past really did not meet the specifications
and requirements,
and you see a lot of new development and innovation in products inn those wind turbines.
It looks for all of use to find ways to save money
and gives us opportunity to have some value add projects.
When the market is a little bit slower it also gives us the time to be able
to make the investment in testing and trying alternate ways to lower cost.
The markets going to want something that's cost effective.
You see the products are significantly improved over the years in the industry.
Much more conscious awareness around the environment, and I think those are also the key ones that
have changed.
People are also more aware of lubricants in general and trying to find
the right products for the right application with the minimal amount of impact to the environment.
We have some new product development that we are looking to place like Australia
to field test those new products to give feedback on products that are needed,
maybe some gaps in the portfolio, new industry trends that we are looking for.
So certainly with the experience that is in Australia that helps a lot, especially in
the mining areas.
Australia does a fantastic job, especially in the mining industry.
We are expanding the mining business in many parts of the world
and better to apply what we have learnt over many years here in Australia to the rest of
the world.
So this part of the world plays a critical role in the future of Shell and the future
of the grease team.
