Hi, I'm Ben Brockert, and this is your Sparkfun autonomous vehicle
competition course report
So the ground is tarmac,
generally has a lot of cracks in it; most of them are fairly small
Starting at the starting line, we're heading around the first corner.
There's a couple of good size cracks up here.
This one is just an indentaton.
Then these next couple are cracks, they're about the size of a quarter.
And otherwise
the initial stretch is relatively smooth.
There's a little bit of a valley.
Then around the second corner
we start getting into
more broken-up tarmac
but it's still quite smooth.
Easy for almost any size of R/C car to deal with.
Pretty much continues around the third corner.
Here it gets significantly more cracked but it's still very very small
There are a few loose rocks on the course, but not very many and they're very small. Now we're heading for
the thin part, which includes the worst part of the course
which are some great big potholes
right on the final corner.
Hopefully they'll fill these up
before the competition but if not one could easily swallow a small car.
It takes us around the final corner
and back to the finish line.
There's a few marks here so it looks like some folks have already been out here figuring out their plan.
So that's the Sparkfun AVC course.
Good luck everybody!
