>> David Mehigan: Hi there, my names David Mehigan, I’m working with Campbell & Kennedy,
We’re here at the Friary in Enfield. We’re working on a site for B3 Living and
I’m here to meet the client Robert Westwood to have a look at how the new installation
of the solar panels is performing. We’re here for a monthly check, it’s been
installed for nearly 2 months now and we’re just here for a little maintenance check to
see how it’s performing. As you can see behind me, we’ve recently
installed 132 panels, so it’s one of the larger systems we’ve done for this particular
housing association. So I’m just off to meet Robert just now,
just to have a quick check to see how the system is performing.
>> Robert Westwood: Basically, we’ve got money to spend. And it’s an investment,
a long term investment; it’s looking to the future.
We’re trying to save energy on our properties, so solar panels are the way to go.
We get a constant return in our FiTs payments on the money we’ve invested.
It’s very much long term, it’s over 25 years. That’s what we’re looking at, a
long term investment. It’s been very good, if you look at this
panel here, we’re actually generating even though there’s snow on the panels.
It’s very good and we’ve generated over a 1000 kilowatts in the last two months just
on this installation here alone so it’s working out okay.
We’ve got future investment in this; there aren’t many things we invest in that we
get a return on straight away. With the FiTs payments on solar panels we do get a return
straight away and that will continue for the rest of the life of the solar panels which
will hopefully be 25 years.
>> David Mehigan: We’re at the second location, I’m going to meet Robert at Wormley court,
we installed 184 panels here. So I’m just going to nip upstairs, see Robert
and see how we’re getting on. >> Robert Westwood: We’re at Wormley court,
this is a bigger installation, 184 solar panels and I’m quite impressed with the installation.
We’ve got three inverters and they’re all producing even though it’s a snowy day
and I’m quite delighted by how it’s come out, so I’m very pleased.
>> David Mehigan: How much has it generated today?
>> Robert Westwood: 1.6 kilowatts on this particular inverter and we’ve got three
of them so we’re doing well considering half of them are covered in snow.
>> David Mehigan: And the general standard of installation in this particular site?
>> Robert Westwood: It’s very pleasing, everything’s where it should be, everything’s
levelled up and it’s been done to a high standard.
>> David Mehigan: So I’ve just met with Robert inside and the client is very happy.
As you can see he was very impressed and to be honest so was I.
Basically each inverter was generating about 600 watts at the time and over a day like
today, a cold miserable day with the snow falling, we’re looking to generate about
10 kilowatts of free energy, which is a good days work.
So the clients happy and I’m happy and I’m just going to nip back inside to get warm.
