I would like to say something about the dream.
because the dream is the first expression perhaps, of a desire for social change.
talking about a dream concerning society.
But for a person who intervenes in politics, intervenes in the transformation of society,
the dream is an initial phase.
Because even in the history of mankind Man began by dreaming
but also dreaming with the conviction that the dream was not achievable.
They remained with a very strong aspiration but unrealised.
Then over the years, we can say the centuries and even millenniums,
beyond the dream often comes the explosion of revolt - the indignation about injustice -;
then comes utopia, ie, the dream already materialized in an ideal,
but an unrealizable ideal also, as this is called utopia.
Later, utopia became a project.
not just an unrealizable idea, but a project that was the type to be realizable.
In a more current phase,
This project turned into action, intervention in revolutionary action,
and finally, not only in revolutionary action, but transformation of life.
So when we talk about dream, the portuguese' dream for democracy,
I believe that during the 50 years of dictatorship that we had,
the dream did not have all these phases.
Because at the same time we dream,
with regard to the Communists - I am a communist -,
that dream was already revolutionary action,
it was already intervention to achieve, to embodiment of the dream that we had.
Freedom and democracy, as more alive dream that was ours, the Communists,
other Democrats and also the Portuguese people.
