Alejandra Ruani: Oh my gosh Gen, your hair is blowing! Hahaha
Genevieve (Gen) Gauvin: Its because of the fan!
Alejandra: [Coco the cat] You know Gen! Hello! Hola Gen! Hola Nick! Dont jump! Ohhh, she
jumped! Gen: hahaha
Alejandra: Sooo, hello, Nick- How are you? Nick Pineault: Im great, Im great, how
are you, Alejandra? Alejandra: This is so cool, I was so looking
forward to it. Nick: You would pronounce Pi-no
Alejandra: Pi-no, like the wine. I have Italian genes, right? Italian blood. Aaaand I love
pasta. Nick: Okay
Alejandra: Like every single Italian person! Now, whats the deal with pasta? Is it bad
for me? Nick: oh, wow, thats a really good question.
I mean, it really depends on your goal, first of all. Most people..lets say that youre
trying to lose weight, right? And Italians- youve got all those pastas and cheese and
everything. Most people will be better off reducing the carbohydrate, carbs intake, just
because most people dont have time to be really active in these days, and we have desk
jobs, like me, and thats the big reason people are all about low-carb diets. Because
they work, to some extent, and really if youre overweight you have to watch it. Sometimes
I feel guilty of eating a non-healthy food, but is that really necessary to feel guilt
over one meal that contains, I dont know, toxins or GMOs, or whatever you want? Your
body will be able to process those, and Im sure, you know, if you have celiac and youre
about to die because you have a cheat meal maybe thats another problem, but for most
people your body wont go into some kind of seizure or anything- so youve gotta
just keep that in mind and see over the long term. So the 90-10 rule I find thats really
healthier for anyone, even for I level athletes and body-builders- some people find that preparing
for shows or really restrictive diet, if they let go a little bit to have some kind of social
life its just less painful because sometimes these people prepare for 12 to 16 weeks in
the end and just need a little bit of relief from time to time.
Alejandra: Yes. One of the things that I often say is, Food doesnt make you fat, its
guilt. And the moment you feel that guilt you continue punishing yourself and you can
get into this spiral that doesnt stop, especially for us women. I dont expect
you to understand it, Nick, because the male brain operates differently, but its tough
for women. Nick: Yeah, but I see, I see, I really see
how thats a problem, and I mean, I live with a woman, obviously, my fiance, Gen.
I see how thats a problem for almost 100 percent of women, and even men, to be honest.
We do struggle with food sometimes, and its when you get into this mindset that Oh,
I was trying to do the right thing and I didnt, and now I feel guilt, but then I feel bad
about feeling guilty because I dont so it gets complicated in our head. So, probably
mostly women are more emotional generally, but even for men we get into those cycles
we call games with food, and thats really hard to just ignore them, or to heal
our relationship with food. So, like I said, I should probably dont stress over food,
but sometimes just bad food around and Im like, Oh, no I dont want to eat this
or, I dont know, Ill feel bad for 20 days.. I mean, no, I wont, Ill be fine,
and sometimes you just stress a little too much, so yeah. I think thats a problem
for almost everyone out there. Alejandra: I completely agree with you- thats
the way to go. Gen: Yeah, totally agree!
Alejandra: [thumbs up] Gen: [thumbs up]
Nick: I just quit my day job a couple of days ago that was another business, but now Im
full time Nutrition Nerd, so.. Alejandra: Full time Nutrition Nerdyeahhhhh!!!
Nick: Haha, thank you. So, if people want to follow me on my blog, nickpineault.com,
just check out the link below the video, and Ill come up with a lot of stuff in the
next few months! Ill probably experiment with my mother trying to help her..
Alejandra: Haha, ohh bless her! Byee! Nick: Bye!
