Well, basically for all the asylum seekers and refugees, if they want their child to
study in Hong Kong the first step they need to do is they have to go to the educational
bureau to fill the application form to say that you know they wish their child to study
in Hong Kong and right after that the educational bureau will assess the case to see whether
they will think that the child is okay to study in Hong Kong. If they think so, they
pass all the information to the immigration. From there the immigration will assess the
case to see whether they will allow the children to study in Hong Kong, while their case is
being process. So pretty much the process will take about a few months. So as long as
the parents will get the call from the immigration, so they just go to the immigration to sign
some letter, basically just telling them that the Hong Kong government is allowing their
child to study in Hong Kong but it doesn’t mean that the child can stay in Hong Kong
permanently. So then the parents will receive a letter from the education bureau, telling
them that their child is get permission to study in Hong Kong and this is the school
you have to go to. For kindergarten and basically the education department will tell them they
can study in Hong Kong and you have to find your own kindergarten. For primary and secondary
they will assign the school for the child according to their age and their level.
