How to get more press coverage is probably the most annoying question to me because guess
what? Getting press coverage! But OK here, how to get more press coverage.
I mean there's multiple ways. If you have a story to tell, it's being able to break
that story up into multiple pieces and spreading it out accordingly. You may give the New York
Post a certain part of the story and then you give the Daily News another part of story.
Both equally intriguing but they're different pieces.
Another way to get more press coverage is to create a newsletter and blast out the press
that you get to a database of people using social media. You know blast it out to all
your friends and followers and make people re-tweet you. It makes… you know, casting
the net wider, more eyes on it.
I mean, getting more press is such a vague question. I mean you can definitely take the
press that you've gotten and try to get more eyes to see it. Getting more press is having
something interesting to tell and being able to present it in multiple ways. How to get
press, hire a publicist. Come up with a strategic plan.
Figure out what you're trying to sell, what your message is and figure out the outlets
you want to be in and go for it. Create a timeline. It's really about, also, looking
at the mediums from TV, radio, print, online, and social media and being able to target
them effectively so it's a cohesive campaign. When you open up the newspaper there's an
article, then you push that article out on your social media and then someone else sees
it and they want to write about it.
Sometimes, it's good to start like, with, you know, creating a buzz. You place an article
on a blog and then a bigger blog picks that up and then the newspaper writes a story about
it and then all the TV people are covering it. I mean, it sometimes is a snowball effect.
It's just being able to know how to create that strategic snowball and the only way to
do it is to hire a publicist.
