I’m going to show you how to do a wrap and turn, it’s also abbreviated W and T, and
it’s how you work short rows in your knitting.
Okay.
The first thing you do is you knit up to the place where it tells you to work the first
wrap.
So, I’m going to go ahead and knit up a few stitches.
And we’ll pretend that this is the spot for the wrap.
So I’m knitting here. The first thing I do is I yarn forward, slip the stitch from
the left needle to the right as if to purl, yarn back, and then slip that stitch over
to the left needle again.
Then you turn your work.
I’m assuming that you’re working short rows here, and you’re going to be wrapping
stitches on both the knit and the purl side.
So I’ll purl a few stitches to show you this example.
And now I’m going to wrap a stitch on the purl side.
The first thing I do is I yarn back.
Slide the stitch as if to purl from the left needle to the right.
Yarn forward, and slip that stitch back over to the left needle.
And turn my work.
And that’s what you’ll be doing back and forth.
Usually you end up working short rows for several rows, so you end up wrapping 10 stitches
on each side or more.
And, in the next video I’m going to show you how to pick up those wraps when you’re
done working your short rows.
