Hi, I'm Mark Metz. I recently learned about this
contest where you can have lunch with Oprah Winfrey and Bob Greene at her farm on Maui.
To enter the contest, you answer this question, in 150 words or less, "What do you want to
grow in your life and why?" Here's my answer. "There's a seed that's sprouted inside me
that will change the world, and the seed is called joy. Joy is like homeopathic medicine
to a depressed person, but it has to be tasted firsthand. The seed of joy was planted in
me many years ago by dance, and like Jack's beanstalk, it was a lifeline to climb out
of troubled times. Over time, I've seen dance cultivate joy in people across the board.
That's why I'm passionate about growing the organization I've recently founded called
DanceFirst, dedicated to the idea of "movement before medication." I believe that anyone
facing pharmaceuticals for a condition that might be healed through movement should have
that choice. I want to grow the seeds of joy that saved my life with dance into a movement
that will change the meaning of health care as we know it and bring massive happiness
to our world." There you have it, thanks Aspen for forwarding
me the link, I'm really looking forward to having lunch with Oprah and Bob in Maui, love
you all, be sure to get on our list and remember to DanceFirst!
