A steak dinner is something many of us look forward to, but a Kansas City man has been
training for it. KCTV 5 photojournalist was there for "Man vs. Steak."
It's a 75-ounce steak, with twice-baked potato, salad, garlic toast, and pickled beets.
You have one hour to eat it.
[Randy Santel]. I get down on one knee, take six deep breaths, say a
little prayer, and then come out, and then I'm ready.
I didn't come here to lose, so I'm thinking it's going to be alright. I saw it. Twenty-five ounces for a baked potato
is pretty dang big, but we'll have to see. The meat is gonna go down. We got an hour,
so it should be a good deal.
Thank you guys for being here tonight. Welcome to the first ever Jess and Jim's seventy-five ounce Steak Challenge!
Now this is going to go on all year in honor of our 75 year anniversary.
Anybody can do it. You don't have to look
like this guy, anybody can do it. It's seventy-five dollars, but if you eat it within one hour,
it's absolutely free. It's kind of a treat tonight to kick it off because we have world
champion eater Randy Santel, who by the way describes himself as a "clean eater." I think
we're all going to be glad about that to be honest with you. He's participated in 131
food competitions throughout the world - England, Scotland, he's been everywhere. [Crowd Cheers]
[Crowd Cheers] Randy, Randy, Randy!
[Randy] Thank you guys for coming!
[Owner] Congratulations! [Randy Thank you.
Got it done in 40 minutes. Might have dessert, maybe a beer,
but I'm good on the steak [Crowd laughs]
I finished the challenge in about 40 minutes.
Very, very good! My fifth steak challenge win,
and win #132 around the world!
I'm definitely excited and I appreciate everyone for coming out! It was a fun challenge!
